Samples module

The Samples module holds sample information. A sample is a subset of records on which it is possible to perform some processing (typically quality assurance of records that were keyed externally).

A Samples record includes details about the records sampled, e.g.:

  • Name of the sample
  • Whether it has been processed
  • Sample size
  • List of sampled records (IRNs)

Note: As every institution is able to customise Vitalware to suit its requirements, there are many different versions of Vitalware. Even where institutions have the same modules, the tabs included in each instance of the module may be different; and even where institutions have tabs with the same name, the fields on those tabs may be different. For that reason this section only provides a general description of modules, tabs and fields.

Note: Use the Field Level Help to find a description of a field as it is used in your organisation. A field description can be added to every field, describing its specific use by your institution.

Tab Description

Sample

Read-only tab holding:

  • The name of the sample
  • Status
  • The sample size: Sample Size: (Sample Details)
  • Whether the sample has been processed
  • The name of the module from which the sampled records are taken
  • Number of records in the batch form which the sample is taken: Sampled From: (Sample Details)
  • IRNs of the records sampled

Batch

Read-only tab recording the IRNs of all records in the batch from which the sample is taken.
